More Than A Teacher was started in Austin in 1989 and has grown into Austin’s largest and most successful SAT prep course. Serving over 1500 students a year, More Than A Teacher is run by full-time high school teachers who know what it means to provide an effective and engaging course. The program has locations all over Austin and has expanded to Dallas and now Victoria.
Our primary South Texas instructor is Brian Cruickshanks, a high school teacher in Victoria ISD. Brian took this same course while in high school and ended up earning a National Merit Scholarship, and he credits More Than A Teacher as a huge contributor to his success. Before moving to Victoria, Brian earned a master’s degree from Texas A&M University and served as principal of Puebla Christian School in Puebla, Mexico. He and his wife Kate, a Victoria native and also a high school teacher, now live in Victoria and are excited to be able to offer this proven program to South Texas.
